Everly celebrated Valentine’s Day at preschool today since she doesn’t go on Thursdays. Last weekend I mentioned to her we could put together a fun Valentine outfit for her to wear for the occasion . She insisted we do it immediately, and so we gathered everything we could find in her closet with pink, red, or hearts on it. She has asked to wear it every day this week and it was all I could do to hold her off until today. This morning I helped her put it all on and then she went to the mirror, came back, and told me she looked “so fun!”
Last night we set to work getting all of her little treats ready for her friends and we baked and decorated sugar cookies to give her teachers. She was so excited and proud to walk into school today and hand out her goodies. All of her teachers got a kick out of her outfit, but by now they’ve grown accustomed to Everly’s adventurous fashion sense.
She came home with a bunch of little handmade cards and crafts for Brent and I and a bag full of valentine’s cards and candy from her friends at school. After lunch we sat down and went through them all. Reading all of the cards and taking stock in the sunglasses, tattoos, baked goods, and candy they had given her. I remember just loving that activity as a child and it was so fun to see her experience it for the first time.
I’m so lucky this little sweetheart is mine.
